About

My name is Jane Lee and I am a landscape designer based in Sacramento, California. My love for landscape stems from the same place as my love for stories, and I see the act of design as an opportunity to build better relationships between the numerous species (people included!) that make up an ecological community. In addition to my enthusiasm for native ecosystems of the Central Valley (Rose Mallow), my work is informed by my Korean-Californian upbringing (Rose of Sharon) and a belief in plants as agents of health and healing (Marsh Mallow).

I previously worked at Miridae, a Sacramento-based landscape design-build company with a mission of creating habitat for native plants and wildlife while also making beautiful and functional spaces for clients ranging from homeowners to community organizations. I have experience creating residential landscape designs, native plant palettes, and educational graphics and signage. I also enjoy honing my botanical illustration skills whenever I have the chance.

I received a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Harvard College. I am a certified California Naturalist and enjoy any opportunity to learn more about California’s native flora and fauna. As often as I can, I love volunteering at the Ninos Parkway Grassland Garden, Bushy Lake Restoration Project, and the SacValley CNPS Nursery. Check them out!

I live and work on the traditional homelands of Nisenan, Miwok, and Patwin people, who have called this area home since time immemorial and who continue to care for the land.
